Where Manchester takes its coffee
A close read of the cafés worth crossing town for, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

Where to begin
Manchester drinks a lot of coffee, and it drinks it differently depending on where you are. The Northern Quarter runs on speed and volume. Ancoats has slowed down and turned precious about its beans. Didsbury and Chorlton keep their own quieter rhythms.
We spend our time in these places and write down what we find. Which rooms are good to sit in for an hour. Who roasts their own and who buys in well. Where the flat white is worth the walk.
The guides move around the city and out into Greater Manchester — Altrincham, Stockport's Underbanks, the suburbs. There's also a piece on what the working morning actually looks like from behind the counter, because the shift shapes the cup.
